2016 Elephant Hill Salomé Chardonnay, trocken
Beschreibung
"Elephant Hill's flagship chardonnay is mostly (83%) from their coastal Te Awanga vineyard which explains the crisp acidity and bright lime, citrus, subtle tree fruit and delicate oyster shell, mineral flavours. A wine of power and finesse. Very impressive. Should develop well with bottle age." -Bob Campbell MW
"Full-bodied, the fruit is extremely rich, sweet and succulent, quite lush with ripe black berried fruits, now revealing a little savoury complexity of dried herb and earth to the layers of spice and minerals. The extraction is enormous, but balanced by the fruit richness, and refined by the powdery tannin textures." -Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
"Barrel fermented and aged in one-third new oak, it's smoky, redolent of grilled peach and pineapple yet crisp and firmly structured around a bright, citrusy backbone. It should develop over the course of at least a decade." -RobertParker.com
